Negative. We do not plate or coat our shells with any other metals. We use the highest quality bismuth available that holds up against fracturing. Plating shot is like a rotten peanut with a candy coating on the outside, hiding the imperfection of the core. Our core shot is superior and produces great patterns as is; there is no need to coat our shot. 

We do not blend any different types of metal into our shells. They are straight
bismuth. We have found through extensive testing that when different metals are
introduced to each other, the density discrepancies really do more harm than
good for wing shooting in terms of pattern results. They look good on paper, but the density is stacked and not what you'd look for in a hunting scenario. 

Bismuth has a higher density than steel; it is often compared to the density of lead
that was known and loved by many waterfowlers for years. From an economic
standpoint, we literally feel it is the best "bang for your buck."

Like stated above, bismuth is similar in density to lead, meaning it is a softer metal. This being said, we have found that our shot will pattern exactly as advertised for whatever choke tube you prefer running. There is no need to "choke down" our shot.

You absolutely can. As a matter of fact, we encourage it. Like said previously, it
performs similar to lead, which those older guns were built to cycle.
